Our story began in 1975, with an after-school job and a determination to work hard. Our founder began in the window treatment sector by cleaning a production plant for Levolor in the evenings after school each day. That opportunity quickly evolved into a lifelong career based on hands-on experience, dedication, and a thorough understanding of the trade.
After graduating from high school, they started working in manufacturing full-time and mastered every aspect of the business from the ground up. They eventually learned how to use every piece of machinery and carry out every task in the plant. After seven years, they advanced to management, directing four departments and leading a team of over 360 people. During their 23 years with the company, they gained an unparalleled insight into how quality window treatments are created, made, and delivered.
The next chapter led them to Hunter Douglas, where they worked as a production manager for the North American Contract Division. In this job, they were in charge of supervising all contract blind orders in North America. After five years of successfully managing large-scale production and distribution, they decided it was time to offer their decades of industry experience directly to customers by launching their own company, Southern Shutters and Blinds.
Today, our company is founded on the same principles of experience, workmanship, and integrity. We specialize in custom window coverings, such as plantation shutters, blinds, and other tailored solutions throughout the Athens, Georgia area. In fact, we proudly serve the entire North Georgia region, offering services for residential and commercial property owners alike.
