Exterior Shutters Athens, GA

All of our exterior shutters are crafted from high-quality Western Red Cedar or Douglas Fir, made right here in Georgia and proudly sourced from American materials. Each shutter is custom-made to perfectly complement the look of your home, ensuring an ideal fit—unlike stock shutters, which often fall short in length or size.

We offer custom painting or staining in the color of your choice, using durable Sherwin Williams paint or rich Minwax stain, to ensure your shutters enhance both the beauty and style of your home for years to come.

All our stained shutters are sealed with a Marine Grade Deck sealer. If you choose Hardware all our Hinges are a Black Powder Coated Stainless Steel and the S-Hook Tie Backs are Cast iron. These are of a very good quality and do not rust as the stamped steel hardware tends to. Everything we do is of the best quality from the wood through to the installation. We take no short cuts or use poor quality components.

Raised Panel Shutters

The raised panel shutter is a timeless shutter design.

Invented in Western Europe and popularized in New England, raised panel shutters will give your home a genuine colonial look.

Decorative raised panel shutter installations can also provide instant curb appeal to your home and give it a touch of elegance.

While vinyl raised panel shutters are economical, easy to install, and require virtually no maintenance, modern wooden raised panel shutters are made with composite raised panels that reduce the maintenance problems of natural wood raised panel shutters.

Offering the most room darkening and privacy, raised panel shutters can be styled to match historic or contemporary spaces!

Board and Batten

A Board and Batten shutter consist of 2 main components. The vertical slats are called Boards and traditionally will be tight against each other. The horizontal pieces are called Battens and traditionally would be used to hold the boards in place.

Wider boards tend to create a more rustic look. Typical arrangement will be 3 Boards and 2 Battens, with or without a diagonal piece.

If the windows are very tall or you want to add additional visual interest, you could add a third Batten in the center.

It is easy to add additional features like decorative straps to Board and Batten shutters. Again, make sure the design doesn’t become too busy, but contrasting metal hardware can definitely add to the look. Especially if they are the same design/style that is found somewhere else on the house.

Board and Batten styled shutters are usually found on Cape Cod, Salt Box, Mission or French Country, cabin and farm styled homes having a rock, stucco or siding façade. Board and Batten also work effectively in dressing down a traditional brick home, giving the building a more relaxed look. When attempting to tie together a houses façade with a mix of different construction materials such as rock and stucco, or siding and stucco, Board and Batten styled shutters make an excellent choice.
